About the Founder
Peitao Peng, Ph.D., is an independent climate scientist with more than 30 years of experience in climate dynamics, prediction, and diagnostic analysis. He served at NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center from 1996 to 2023, including over two decades as a federal meteorologist.
Dr. Peng has developed a wide range of forecast tools and verification systems used in both operational and research environments. His expertise spans subseasonal‑to‑seasonal prediction, climate diagnostics, statistical‑dynamical modeling, and applications of machine learning (ML) in climate forecasting.
Today, he continues to design, refine, and maintain the forecast products featured on ClimateInform.com, with a strong emphasis on clarity, accessibility, and scientific integrity.
